Welcome

Welcome to our May newsletter.

There's plenty to update.

Our free parent Q&A on April 28 on NAPLAN 2021 and the Australian Curriculum Review was a great success and I'd like to take this opportunity to formally thank our panellists, David de Carvalho, CEO, and Peter Titmanis, General Manager, Assessment and Reporting, from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) and the hundreds of parents who took part via Zoom and Facebook.

With NAPLAN next week and public consultation on the Australian Curriculum now open it was a great opportunity to get up to speed and get up to date information from the team in charge. We've included a full report, links to the webinar and other information below. Also in this newsletter is my opinion piece on why my youngest son WILL be sitting NAPLAN.

APC is also partnering with Year13 to provide resources for parents and advisors for their upcoming expo on May 17-19. The resources include our VET case study videos, and premiere the latest addition to this series of real life stories about vocational and training opportunities for young people. I encourage all parents of teens, especially those with kids leaving school soon, to check out the expo and Year13's resources. To find out why it is such an innovative organisation and useful place to look at post school options with your young person, watch the video of my conversation with Saxon, one of the founders, on modern career planning. If you are worried about what the future of work will be for this generation, you won't be after listening to what he has to say. Links to the video and the Year13 expo are below.
