Welcome back to Term 3! Is it just me who feels a little bit like it's groundhog day?
The first two terms of the year have been just as disrupted as previous years and we expect this one to be crazy with Covid-19 infections ramping up this winter. We have been hearing from parents across the country who are trying to navigate what this "new normal" looks like for our kids education. So many parents are telling us of their concerns that they are still locked out of school yards with minimal opportunity to connect with their school community. They are telling us that they feel fearful that they will never be welcomed back into classrooms. Are you feeling the same? Or has your school found innovative ways to engage beyond the school gates? Feel free to jump on our Facebook APC Parents group to continue the chat there...
We are also really interested to hear how you are all going with your school fundraising efforts? The last two years have not only made a big impact upon bottom lines but also our ability to run community events and gather together as a school community. We are really interested to hear how you are all going with putting your communities back together again. You will have your opportunity to tell us what ideas you have put into practice through our annual parent sentiment survey. It is coming soon!
The parent sentiment survey is a piece of work we are required to do by the federal government. Believe it or not they DO like hearing what parents think about! So please keep your eye out for the survey. It will be released soon and we will then report back to you what you all told us to tell the government!
In the meantime, take care and stay safe.

The Australian Parents Council is thrilled to announce that we will be presenting at the Values Education Summit on the 13th of August.
Stay tuned! Big things are coming!
A few words of thanks at assembly, a celebratory morning tea, a parent thank-you note, or a small card or picture from the students is all it takes. Your acknowledgement will make such a difference in reminding principals why they love doing what they do and assure them of your support and shared commitment to building strong learning and life foundations for our children.
Please share your stories of thanks with us on #principalsday2022
Join our school fundraising, P&F and board member Facebook groups
Come and join our Facebook groups - designed to connect and inform parents and carers, who give their time and energy at their children's school either to be involved in their children's lives or to help build their school community.
Being a parent in a school community can feel lonely at times, even when you are surrounded by people. It can be hard to find your tribe. That is why you should join an online community of like minded people!
We know that community and connection matters and we are building something big! There has been a whole lot of innovation going on in schools when it comes to parent events, fundraising, community building and we never forget the issues that parents face while raising their kids. Our Facebook groups are social spaces where members from different schools can chat, share ideas and problem solve.

The Australian Parents Council is a representative body that bridges the gap between parents and government policymakers. We are on a mission to help all children thrive in non-government schools but we can't do it alone. We need both sound government policy and empowered parents to ensure academic, social and emotional success in all students.
To help us bridge the gap between parents and the government sign up to become a member. It's free and you will be contributing to making our education system the best it can be for all children.
Tax, Super + You competition. This one is for the high schoolers.
The ATO’s 2022 Tax, Super + You competition is now open
The Tax, Super + You competition is a fun and engaging way for Australian high school students to learn about the value of tax and super. Not only does it help build financial literacy in students, but they also have a chance to win a share of the $7,600 prize pool for themselves and their school.
The competition invites high school students in years 7–12 to make a creative project about tax and super, with the topics based on the year the student is in at school.
You can watch one of the competition judges, ATO Deputy Commissioner Hoa Wood, talk about the competition and how students can get involved.
Entries will close at 5pm AEST on Friday 19 August 2022, and the winners will be announced in October.
For more information about the competition, including how you can incorporate the Tax, Super + You teaching resource into your lesson plans, visit the Competition teacher's kit.
